A culinary lab originally built in 1982 has reopened at UBC as Vij’s Kitchen after $250,000 worth of renovations, thanks to a generous donation from Vancouver celebrity chef Vikram Vij. Located in the Food, Nutrition, and Health Building on the Vancouver campus, the renovated lab provides vital learning space for basic food theory, food preparation, and multicultural culinary exchange. Comprising six kitchen stations and a demonstration kitchen, Vij’s Kitchen also has new audiovisual equipment, allowing for filming, videoconferencing and distance education programs.
