T-Birds Suit Up Against Pros for Charity

The Thunderbirds men’s ice hockey team had the opportunity of a lifetime to play against the pros. The charity game in a sold out Doug Mitchell Arena was against Bieksa’s Buddies, a team of National Hockey League players and local celebrities, led by Vancouver Canucks defenceman Kevin Bieska. The game helped raise $100,000 for three charities, Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, the Canucks Autism Network and the Canucks Family Education Centre. Vancouver singing superstar Michael Bublé matched that amount, bringing the total to $200,000. Although the pros took the game with an 8-7 final score, it was an experience many of the T-Birds will never forget.
